Polymer Engineering Department
The Polymer Engineering department was established in 2012 with the aim of carrying out basic and applied research in polymer science and technology, as well as providing outreach programs for Iran polymer industry. Helping local industry in polymeric fields, training engineering students at the postgraduate level and collaboration with other scientific and research centers of both inside and outside of the country are the other goals of this department. This department enjoys extensive facilities for synthesis, characterization, processing, and fabrication of different classes of polymers and related products. Polymer engineering department with 4 academic staff work and 10 Master of Science students in four fields include polymer synthesis, biopolymers, polymeric composites and nanocomposites and simulation of polymerization processes. Laboratory of polymer engineering department has different types of equipment such as spectroscopic analysis (IR, NMR, and UV), thermal behavior (TGA and DSC), physical and mechanical properties evaluation, rheology and ... for the property evaluation of polymeric materials. Different laboratory glassware and several reactors made special materials with different capacities and accessories are some of the equipments for the synthesis of monomers and polymers. Currently, 6 MSc. students for the polymer engineering filed are admitted annually for education in the Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in the University of Tabriz.
